If you mean their' juvenile stripes, mine started losing his when he was about 4-1/2 or 5 inches long. Not sure about the age, though.

If its an adult then they don't generally start to fade unless you have the Ghost morph.
They get dull when they're close to shed.

Yeah, the colors aren't supposed to fade as they get older unless they are of a particular morph, like albino (gets lighter as it ages), pastel (gets lighter as it ages but then brightens at adulthood), etc.

Colors can darken depending on the gecko's mood and/or stress level.

Actually it is not unusual for the various different morphs colors to fade/change as they get older even when they are never bred and are kept at a steady temp and are not stressed

I have many Leos that started out with very vibrant colors as babies and are now a much more subdued color as adults

I think that most of the morphs do this and I have no idea why

Perhaps it is because they do not shed as often as youngsters do or maybe that has nothing to do with it at all???

And don't forget Tremper Albinos-which can and do turn brown-lol

There are a lot more combos these days of morphs with some very intense coloration that might hold their colors better into adulthood and I believe that is one of the aims of many breeders when picking out pairs for breeding

I know that there are some smokin' Tangs out there and the RAPTORS and APTORS colors are very intense too

just my -.02

If what you're asking is if they lose their colors as they become "senior" geckos, the way a dog's muzzle will become gray when they get old, and as far as I know that does not happen with geckos. While their colors change from hatchling to adult, and may vary based on mood or temperature when adult, I don't think they will lose their coloration simply due to old age.

As others have said, yes their colors do change from baby to adult. In my experience (admittedly limited) it's about a year to 14 months or so before they reach their full adult coloration.
