This may be a really stupid question, but how old should males be before breeding.. a year as well as females?

I would say at least 1 year, 80 grams, and physically healthy.

Males can breed a bit younger than females. I'd say maybe 7-8 months and 45-50 grams would be good. None of my male breeders lost any weight this year from breeding, just the females who should be above 50 grams, preferably 60+ grams.
