All last night I kept hearing a clicking noise like something was moving and hitting the wall. Being around 1-2am I just yelled stop it because I thought it was the dog playing with a bone. I did that around 3times and finally feel asleep. I wake up and see that the 90degree temp in Lana's tank is now 92degrees. I go to adjust it and what do I see? Teeth marks on the cord! The cat chewed through half of my rhethrostat I paid like $15 bucks for it a few weeks ago but had only set it up on Monday night! And some how she got on the side of the tank and chewed part of the thermometer so now the heat is all over the place!!! Grrr that freaking CAT!!!

I would have thought that since she was going on 3 I believe the chewing crap would have disappeared, obviously not!!! There still seems to be some energy going through it but it doesn't seem save that there exposed wire.

I hate cats. All they seem to do is throw up on carpet and push cups off of counters.

I have a cat that does just fine with my geckos. I'm sure if he saw one running around he'd attack it, but when I'm holding them he will come up and sniff them, then he's good. This is the same cat that cuddles with our Rottweilers :) I think we got lucky!

Never underestimate cat behavior.

I used to keep birds, and had what I believed to be a very mellow and docile cat. This relationship went on for years.
One day, I came home from work and found one of the bird cages on the floor and feathers everywhere!

A word to the wise!! :D

Tape it up with electrical tape because now it's a fire hazard. I'd replace it a.s.a.p. and that cat would have seven lives left, just kidding, I wouldn't hurt the cat, but the thought would cross my mind.

Yeah i got some electrical tape and im going to order a new one but it's going to take atleast a week to get it, Grr!

I'm going to have to lock my room from now on. I think my cat has an obsession with anything that looks like a string! She chewed to phone chargers, a computer mouse wire, the wire to connect the dvd and now this! Funny thing is none of these things are in plain view its a mission to get to them but she some how finds a way to get them. My mother can't even knit without the cat chewing threw the yarn or tangling it.

That's why I said I know if one was out he'd go after it lol. Cat's have a prey drive, just like every other carnivorous animal. I had a cat when I was younger that killed two of my baby rats. Traumatized me, so you can bet I don't take any chances :)

The cat is allowed in the rooms, but the tanks are all overly secured, with snap locks on the top, and not screen, but metal mesh. I found that if he is not allowed in the rooms, he gets much more curious and explores a bunch more than if he's allowed at all times.

LOL! I remember folks would come over to my appartment (at that time) and comment about my having a cat with all these birds.
I would tell them this has been going on for a long time, and the cat has never shown the least interest.
Little did I realize, the cat was watching my every move when feeding/watering the birds, and came to understand exactly how to get inside the cages.

Patient; ever patient cat behavior :)

CATSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :main_thumbsdown:

Rheostats are expensive... If the cat just chewed thru the 110V "outlet side" - I'd just repair it... Pos and neg... Should be simple... Just some electrical tape double around each one - then one wrap over both. :main_yes:

...on the other hand - you could leave it all exposed... At least it would eliminate your cat problem. ;)

...don't really - but I do truly dislike cats. :D

Uh-oh.....I wouldn't make comments like that:main_yes: A hairball once, maybe twice a week is normal....but anything else is not. It is not normal for cats to vomit a lot.:main_thumbsup:

I think that in the child section of stores, they have some kind of safety device that can shield your wire from harm.:main_huh:

Yikes! On a pet forum you really do have to keep your dislikes to yourself.

I have never had any problems with my 5 cats or my geckos tank.

I have 4 cats in my house thanks to the rest of the family......... I hate cats.... found that out after moving into this house..... didn't mind them before but I hate them now.... not all cats really just ours, they eat, sleep all day then are up all night (fighting), crap, wizz and puke, not to mention the hair.... did I mention how much I hate cats yet? I was going to give one to my brother when he came to visit and he offered to have it 'fall' out the window as he was going home :behead:..... *sigh* sadly I'm not that mean:(.... yah so I guess the point of this rant is I hate cats too.... stupid animals... very stupid.... at least ours are...... want to send me that rehostat and I'll use it? Maybe I can get rid of a few of them that way:evil::evil:
