How in the world are you guys getting albino eye shots? I've been trying for a week now and soon as the gecko is out of dim light, eyes go shut. Dern bells.

I would also be curious as to the trick to getting those amazing eye shots especially on the Bells

I do know that if I have the camera ready and take the pics as soon as I get one of my Bells out of the tub-I have a chance of getting a decent eye shot-with the eyes open-lol

I don't put them under bright lights because I know that it makes them uncomfortable-I try and use lighting from a window in the room

However -if the gecko likes to run around the tub that i am taking the pics in-then-forget it
Diablo runs around the whole sweater box with his eyes tightly shut or squinting-LOL

Any secrets to getting those wide eyed albino shots guys??

What I do for mine is I keep a box near by when I take pics. I put her in it and put a piece of cloth over the top. Right before I take a picture of her I get the camera in position. I then take her out quickly and get the picture. I almost always get an open eyed picture. That's what I have to do for that one gecko. She's extremely afraid of cameras. Between pictures I let her sit in the box for a few seconds.

Having a good zoom lens with a camera that focuses well in low light helps. Just use a flash and keep the light in the room as low as possible so they'll keep their eyes open.

I have heard if you use flash, you could put a piece of tissue paper in front of the flash, the overall lighting will be much softer.

Do you guys use a tripod when taking close up eye shots?
