Albinos...

I have a question about breeding albinos. I've read in at least two different care sheets that there could be bad consequences from crossing the three different types of albino lines. Would the offspring have deffects or deformities? I'm interested in purchasing a beautiful snow male het tremper and I've found a beautiful redstripe enigma, but she's het for bell and I don't want to risk any issues with the offspring. I haven't purchased them yet.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no risk of deformities, or at least not to my knowledge!

What people mean when they say that the strains are incompatible is that they do not "mix".

If you cross a Bell Albino with a Tremper Albino you will get Normals. Versus two of the same strain producing more of the same.

The biggest problem with crossing albino strains is that it gets very difficult to know the genetics of the animal in future generations which causes problems for people's breeding projects when the offspring are on the market. For instance, if you cross a het tremper with a het bell, none of the babies will look albino. However, for each baby, you have a 25% chance for each of the following possibilities:

no albino genes at all
het tremper
het bell
double het for both tremper and bell

Imagine breeding one of these offspring to another gecko het tremper or bell!
