Yikes-I don't know either but as was stated -it CAN kill you and if it is suspected a visit to the hospital or your family Dr. is a must!!

Alcohol poisoning is very serious. If you have it real bad your stomach needs to be pumped. I am asuming that it's not you that has it or you would not be able to type or sit at the computer without problems. Who ever it is get them to the hospital.

I thought that if you had alcohol poisoning, you're in TROUBLE. It happens right then and there. You faint, you're in and out of consciousnous and obviously incoherent. That's what I've heard but never seen it in person. It's waay beyond drunk when your body can no longer handle your blood alcohol level.

my friend had alcohol poisoning once. she was puking everywhere in and out of consciousness, going into convulsions and very very cold. it was bad bad. never seen anything like it before its not like getting drunk puking and passing out. they took her to the hospital. they put her on IV fluids, pumped her stomach and then put charcoal stuff down it. she had a blood alcohol level of .4 and they said that at that point death is generally the outcome

How long does it take to go away?

it is usually the result of taking in alcohol at a rate faster than your liver can process it. "Feeling drunk" is mild poisoning. ethyl alcohol is poison to humans
just not very toxic. in large quantities or at very fast rates of consumption the liver can no longer metabolize it quick enough and shuts down. thats why they use gastric lavage/gavage (putting a tube down adding activated charcoal to soak up the toxin in the stomach then pulling it out) to treat.

If you or a friend got really drunk the other night or something and still feel sick, crappy, tired. you need to see a doctor on the now!

Tom, when I answered... my # of days listed was a more of "after you are treated in a hospital". I have had 3 friends go through that mess. They were in the hospital for 12-36 hours. They were all still pretty messed up, physically and mentally for about a week after being discharged. I am guessing either it wasn't you, or you are using the term "alcohol poisoning" incorrectly. As someone said, most cases need a stomach pump and you need to be VERY close watch by professionals with IVs. My sister has lost a friend to alcohol poisoning. I am sure it is tough at your age with regards to this subject. Just remember it is never "cool" or funny to get that drunk.

Sorry, haven't checked back in a few days. It was for my own "intellectual fantasies" if you will.

I hope you're not drinking...especially since you're only 16... :main_no:
