So I am trying to prove out some of my adopted leo's & I would like some more experienced eyes to help out please. They have all been determined trempers but either both of my females are snow tremps or my male is...
first pairing Ataxia (female blazing blizz) to Mayhem (tremper)
Ataxia

Mayhem

& offspring (Hespera and Aurora)

and pairing two was Kepi (tremper) & Mayhem again
Kepi (pics a few mnths old but the best I had of her)

& offspring (only had one egg hatch from her)

Mayhem doesn't look much like a snow to me so I assume both females have a single snow copy in them but any comments would help ease my mind. Thanks in advance :)

Yes, both females probably has a Snow Gene in it because mayhem sure doesn't look Snow.

Now remember that the snow gene is not recessive, so any gecko that's producing snow babies (which would mean it has at least one copy of the snow gene) must be snow itself. None of the geckos look like snows but I have geckos that were clearly snow when they hatched but don't look like it now. I would say statistically that in that case it's more likely that the male is a snow, having produced snows by 2 females, than both females being snows. If you get a supersnow baby then you know that the female is a snow as well.

hard to say,
I have geckos now that are snow and look darker than normal at around 25grams, others from same dad, still show the snow at around the same size.
I would have to say by breeding size, some could show no evidence of being snow.
I also have a some murphys patternless snows and after around 20g - 30g there is no real sign of the snow.

Aww crud. Darn this co-dom gene...but not really because it's an amazing gene. I suppose there will be more breeding to determine who is what. So I could either purchase a female tremper that has no snow in it or breed one of the new snow babies back to papa. Any more suggestions? Thanks you btw Aliza & Jeremy :)

actually I have seen tons of mack trempers with very similar high lavender like the second female. the thick pink bands with dots in yellow bands is somthing I tend to see alot more in snow trempers... I would say she deffinatley looks like a snow, and the blizzard well yeah very good poss there too lol. The male doesn't look snow at all. So its gotta be the females. :)

Hmm...I know when I first got her I thought the same & searched images for eternity to try to find something similar but was never satisfied enough to claim her a snow tremper.

next year if i were you i would breed one of the babies back to "papa" you have nothing to loose that way. You dont have to pay to buy a new gecko, and if you luck out and the father is a mack snow you could end up with a super snow tremper albino. From my opinion its hard to say which one is a mack snow. Yes the very last one does look like it could be a snow, but the male also its impossible to say that its not a snow because its a white gecko with some yellow. If i was to guess i would have to say that there is a greater chance of the father being snow than both of the females being snow. If i was to guess again i think next year if you breed one of the babies back to the father i think you might be quit happy when you find a super snow in your incubator!!!

That's what I plan on doing :) Physically my eyes still want to say my females are the snow's but, like you say, there is a greater chance my male in. I would rather prove out everyone's genetics rather then play a guessing game anyway. Plus, the very worst that could happen is that I produce more tremper's lol. It is on my breeding project list for next year :) Thank you.

Ok...my mystery continues. So earlier this season, Mayhem was paired with another female, Vedera, who is a wild-type.
Vedera

offspring, Valdis

And just an hour ago, Ataxia & Mayhems last clutch of the season hatched...revealing what seems to be co-dom snow trempers...that very much resemble how Kepi looks. Here they are:

33427_514675889206_97500061_30475447_6487786_n.jpg

Perhaps they are normal trempers (het for Blizzard) but they seem to be more pale than normal trempers. I know nothing will be concrete until next season when I prove out Mayhem to be either co-dom snow or not but any more insight? Thanks again.
