Um, so shortly after I post an ad with mack snow combos, someone starts a thread complaining about the drop in mack snow prices. Then other people join in. boo hoo hoo.

Am I reading something that isn't there? Or should I expect a bunch of hate mail in the near future?

I'm assuming people are upset at what I priced the MSRWPAs at, even though it's 1/2 of what they were last year. The thing is, look at them... I know they're nice and all, but a freaking co-dom RWPA just looks like a faded PA.

You know what's funny? When I was posting that ad with the 30 geckos in it, I was laughing because I KNEW that somebody would get pissed off about the prices even though I think they are 100% FAIR.

I bet they'd feel differently if I had posted all 40-some MSRWPAs that I've hatched so far instead of the 1.2 If there's that many of them, well ... duh.

I think your price is fair. I think anytime you make more on a gecko than the time and money it takes to feed and raise it, you're doing good. The problem is, people see $$$ when looking at the high-end morphs, and they forget those first 20 geckos released are going to turn into 200 in a pretty short amount of time. OF COURSE, the price is going to fall!


BTW, Jeremy, I knew I liked you for a reason...LOL. Right on.

Uh, Paul, when were the RAPTORS released? I'll tell you April 2006. That is just 14 months ago. The cost of a RAPTOR 14 months ago? $2000. Yeah, I think your onto something there. lol

Paul, I in no way think you are alone in needing to sell off a few geckos to cover financial issues, so don't think I was making a post referring to your recent ad. They are your's to sell, so you set the pricing.

I did a show yesterday at which I couldn't even get an offer on mack trempers that were priced a bit low. At that same show I seen mack snows going for $20, mack het trempers at $40. That burns my ass to see when 4 months ago mack het trempers were $150ish. JMG is the breeder that scares me pricing wise, not any of the people on this site and the wholesalers are the regular mack snow killers at shows.

I in no way was trying to affend anyone, so please don't think I was.

JMG sells SS at shows for $50, yet on their site much higher. Jeff Sr. told me it's because he doesn't like SS and just wants to work on the creamcicles. The SS are just a byproduct that he doesn't want to keep.

I just tried (once again) to explain economics to the people in that thread who are bitching about mack snow prices. I used to think that Leopard Gecko breeders were a little *smarter* than ball python breeders in regards to financial expectations of breeding rare/expensive morphs and the disappointment when they realize they won't retire at the age of 40 in an 8,000 square foot brick & marble mansion in Beverly Hills from breeding reptiles. Now I realize that both markets are populated by the same people. Sad.
