I was at pet** and the sales rep told me that a leo's bite wouldn't hurt because they don't have a jaw bone or teeth! I was like they sure as h*ll do have teeth! Their jaws are armed and fully loaded! :main_evilgrin:

No jaw bone? No teeth? My god the people they hire.... maybe the teeth I can understand, but jaw bone? Oy.

I imagine it's like when an alligator or crocodile grabs their prey. They spin around and twist and turn to finish off their kill. Thinking of it that way, your finger really got owned. LOL!

hmm.. leos rarely bites.. unless:
- stress (many reasons apply..)
- very hungry/too hungry
- ill (internal/external) esp internal that u may not notice
- injured
- scared/shocked suddenly
- if its a male.. might smell sense of others male on your hand & strike.. same goes to when he smell sense of female will vibrate his tail while holding it
- new environment
- thirsty! no water for long time..
- mating desperations
- stress by sudden sound/loud sound
- got hold/handle uncomfortably
-etc
but again, it never happened 2 me, they really hardly bite/attack with proper cares.. cheers buddy :D

We have a few females that associate us with food time. When I open the tub, they start stalking me like I'm food. Then when I put my hand in the tub, they both start lunging...the funny thing is is that they're clutch mates with the exact same attitude. lol.

Dalton didn't appreciate his photo shoot. He's so calm though... Just outta no where turned around and got a good hold of my thumb. This is the second time he's gotten me good. Last time he was with a female, so I assume he was going for her and got me instead- that time he got me on my pointer finger on the wrinkled crease- he took forever to let go- ~2 mins. Fun Stuff...

I thought I've been bit before, but boy am I wrong! The worst that's happened to me was they nip. I can't believe they do the deathroll like crocodiles do, that's crazy!

OUCH! I am definitely sticking with my more gentle fat tails. The only time I've ever been bitten was while administering meds to my girl, but I used the opportunity to get the stuff in her mouth while she had the side of my finger in her teeth!
That said, she still didnt' break the skin though! That must be one angry fierce leo! :wreck:

They're not always like that. That's prob the worse bite I've ever experienced. For the total amount of hours I've handled geckos it's not that bad. Sometimes you just tickle them the wrong way.
