Lately, I've been VERY anxious to get the season started, I was pretty sure my female Tremper was ovulating, but not positive as this is technically my first year breeding. I put my male Tremper in with her a week ago, and she wanted NOTHING to do with him. So I decided to try the method Eric suggested, and put some of his paper towel into her tub.

Tonight I was cleaning tubs, flipped over my Tremper female, and I KNOW I saw eggs, smaller than dimes, but they are forming. She was in the "halfway" tub I put them in while sanitizing theirs, so I grabbed my male and set him down with her...nothing...he didn't even respond. I nudged him over to her and he went crazy, only problem....no substrate! Poor boy was flopping around like a fish out of water on that slippery tub! I was able to get some paper towel underneath them without disturbing them TOO much, and the breeding was successful :) I know they aren't any crazy morphs, but I was VERY happy :D

I had a success with Eric's method as well! Now i just need my SS' to take to the male. I can see eggs in both but they dont want the male...weird to me

Erics method is a good trick... I have been using it for years with the hots... Thanks for letting a trade secret out Eric... LOL

Heather, congrats... I am happy you and I know you will have great luck...

Congrats, Heather! And good luck throughout the remainder of your season.

I won't start a new thread, but I will add a little something here. I too used Eric's posted method with all of my planned pairings. While some aren't quite as far along as I'd hoped, I did have luck with a Tremper het RAPTOr pairing last night. So I'm hoping to prove this pair out, since I didn't have any RAPTOrs last season.

So long story short, TWO cases where Eric's method worked. It's definitely worth giving a try if you plan on breeding! :main_thumbsup:

Nice shot and good luck with the babies! BTW does the female has something unnormal on the tail?

Thanks Thorsten...she has a scarred area where another female took a chunk out of her before I got her. Healed up nicely, but does look a bit funny!

Thanks everyone...you have no idea how excited I am!!! Well maybe Eric does, he got a phone call through the process last night :D :main_laugh:

Gregg - you know how irritated I was with this male, at least now I know he's not a dud, just needed some encouragement ;) !!!

Thanks Ken!!! I'm really excited about this breeding. I got them as Trempers, but then the female had those mystery eggs. This will help to possibly give clues as to if Chloe is a product of these two, or the product of some retained sperm lol.

Here's a picture of Chloe. Some think she's normal het Tremper. Whatever she is, I think she's BEAUTIFUL...I love bold spotting.

And this was her when she hatched for those of you that haven't seen:

Lol...well the male is very inexperienced, so he needed a little "assistance". I felt dirty, but the poor guy was working so hard for it and nothing was happening LOL!

Well who knows Liz...we will see what comes of this pairing. There is a possibility she came from these two, about a 50/50 chance I'd say. So we will soon see! I have to work on the incubator now :)
