Animal Plastics Rack Econ or Sterlite?

Pretty sure I am going to get a hatchling rack from Animal Plastics.

My dilemma is if I should get an economy style which is like $150 cheaper. Essentially it has no back and has open sides.
OR
The "Sterlite" style which is basically book shelf style but costs a bit more. Book shelf style is supposed to hold heat and humidity in better. My concern is would it hold it in too well? Is it worth it to spend the extra money?

I agree with Russell. I LOVE my Iris racks and my brother uses the economy and they dont hold a candle to the Iris. The Iris is very stable, easy on the eyes, hold great temps, variable tub sizes are handy,... You get what you pay for and they are well worth it.

Spend the extra cash, economy style isnt bad if you live in a warmer climate. You and I dont have that luxury. Of course this is judt my opinion.

My personal opinion is to get boaphile's new 25 tub hatchling rack...for about $30 more you get a really high quality product, tubs and heat included, fully assembled and shipped! with AP youll have to buy tubs, pay for shipping and assemble your rack yourself. No brainer in my opinion.

I only see a 20 tub set up [/url]

Michelle, Jeff's website is a little out of date. He has a new 25 tub 6 qt. rack and a new 12 tub 15 qt. rack that are awesome! The 15 qt has new rubbermaid tubs that have way more floor space for the geckos. Check his youtube video here :http://www.youtube.com/user/TheBoaphile#p/u/23/xyGVEyIPid8. You have to call Jeff and he will give you prices and options. I highly recommend his racks over any others. The little amount of money I would save is not worth it to me to have to assemble the rack and the quality of materials is no comparison. IMHO

I agree with Chris on this one as well. I have found that when you skimp on price, you get skimped product...i have personally saved untill i could get the best, and am happy i did so. i have also bought cheaper stuff in the past, and was vastly dissapointed. when you spend a little extra money, you get TONS of better options, and the quality is heads and shoulders above. i have not used the iris or the ap racks, but i have friends that do...i do have some boaphile stuff still from when i bred boas, and his stuff is all great.

Anyone know if these are still available? I was looking at the Econ AP racks and if this comes with the tubs and there is no assembly... no brainer.

It is a no brainer, and yes they are available. Call him up. You have to call and actually talk to him though, he's not the best emailer in the world! LOL! I have both of those racks, they are his latest racks. They are like furniture! Fully assembled, comes with tubs, and shipping is included in the price. I did the math with AP, reptileracks, and a few others, and I won't lie....boaphile is a little pricey....but it's the nicest one on the market. If you have a reptile room that is heated consistently all year long, then by all means go with the cheap AP econo racks. But if your like me, and your room temps fluctuate all year, then you need the enclosed style racks.

I agree that as of right now the equivalent boaphile racks (listed on the website, I have not called and talked to him) are about $50 more than these Iris racks, but they come fully assembled with tubs.. etc. A better deal on that front for sure!

but I would like to hear more about the "variable tub sizes" for the Iris racks. Someone please chime in...?
