Another dented egg question

Egg incubating at 83* for 50 days today dented and deflated a bit some time yesterday, on day 49. My last hatchling hatched on day 52 at the same temperature, so yesterday I figured the denting was because it was due to hatch soon.

However it still hasn't started hatching at all, and it's almost been 24 hours since I first found it dented. I've been doing a ton of research and seem to be getting conflicted information about how long they can remain dented for before hatching. Some things I read say if it doesn't hatch within 24 hours then it's probably dead, other things say they can dent days or even a week or so before hatching.

So what's the conscientious about, on average, how long before hatching an egg can dent and still hatch out a healthy gecko?

I think I've had it go at least several days. If it becomes totally flat, give up, otherwise just hang in there.

Somebody on this forum just hatched one that was dented for two weeks. The thread is fairly recent but I can't remember who it was. Don't give up hope!

Yup that's the plan, I'm just getting kind of anxious. This will only be my second hatchling, if it survives. My first egg that hatched didn't dent at all. The egg sweated a bit but then hatched only about an hour after it started sweating, so this denting stuff is new to me.

Wild West Geckos I saw that. Hopefully mine will hatch too.

It's not totally flat or anything. I just wish I could tell if it's still alive or not. The egg shell is really dirty with a lot of vermaculate stuck to the shell from the mother's lay box, so I haven't been able to tell if it's moving inside or not. With my first egg I was able to candle and see the baby moving inside the egg.

Just figured I'd update for anyone interested.

The baby died inside the egg. The egg was starting to look pretty funky so I decided to open it up and see what was going on.

The baby was dead when I opened the egg up. It was an almost perfectly formed little Mack Snow. However, it had a deformed/pretty much missing lower jaw. I'm guessing that's probably why it couldn't get out of the egg.

So yeah, I'm pretty bummed. But at the same time, I guess it's better that it died before ever hatching than if it had hatched with that deformity.
