Another egg problem/question

One of my females has begun laying, she's been separated from the male, being well fed.

Her moist hide/lay box is pretty big, 12" long x 5" wide x ~4" deep. On another breeders recomendation, I keep moist vermiculite in the hides.

So far, she's laid 2 eggs, both out in the open, not in the box... both dried up.

Is the hide too big, too moist, too dry, wrong substrate?

She dropped 1 egg about 10 days ago (maybe 14) and another one in the last 2 days... so I'm assuming I'll get some more shortly and want to make things ideal for her...

Temps in the enclosure are 89 - 90 in the warm area, about 82-84 in the cool area. Her floor space is 24"x18", I use contact paper for a substrate.

Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.

Sometimes they seem to know the egg isn't fertile and lay it in the open. Sometimes they just don't get it about the lay box. Maybe when you sense she's about ready to lay you can put her in the lay box a few times a day and see if she makes the connection.
