Not so sure on this, but I don't believe those are true colors.
What was the substrate he was on at the pet shop?

I agree with Wreptile, it was probably just kept on newspaper. If that's the case, it'll probably come off after he chills in a humid hide & or when he sheds. It looks like a hypo though.

Looks Like He was Kept on Charcoal :main_rolleyes: But the flash really whites out his color.. Try getting some outside pics. also his "True" colors should hopefully come out within a shed or so.

what a difference a humid hide makes

Well at the pet store they didnt give them any humid hides. He was on light colored sand....so i didnt expect it to be that. Seemed like as soon as he got in my cage, he ran for the humid hide. This mornin he was a whole new gecko. Might not be so hard to tell what he is now.. :D;) He needs some plumpin up too

His tail looks a little skinny in the first pics, & in the new pics he looks like a totally different gecko, much brighter! Pretty orange on him :)

ya like i said he could use some plumpin up. U know how pet stores are, cant expect much. I feed all my guys mealies dusted of course, no D3, and some crickets for weekly treats. This new guy on the other hand will only eat about a mealie or two per day. 2 yesterday and 2 today. Hes still getin used to his new home though. He super alert so i dont think hes sick, he was the biggest in the pet store unfortunatley. Good for him, bad for all the others. Wanted to buy em all.

That's not bad for the first few days. A lot of geckos won't eat for a week or more after they've been brought to a new environment. If he is big enough, have you tried Superworms?

nah not yet. I doubt he can. Hes on mealies and sml/med crix. Hasnt eaten the crix yet, but he eyes em lol, they look like they would fit in his mouth pretty nicely. Think the rule is the width between their eyes is about how big the cricket should be? i dont know, just heard that. And i know waxworms are bad, but i grabbed em just to maybe help the guy gain weight. Probably wont use em for more then this first week. and im only giving them as treats. Might do some famous slurry too. Probably my best bet

f*ck do I ever hate pet stores... That leo is soo under weight its not even funny, not only that but he should not be kept on sand AND must always have a humid hide... I hate pet stores that sell animals that even themselves cant take care of!! it makes me sick!!!

I have reported two places in my area... 3 out of 5 juvies at this one pet store and seriously bad impaction, and it was on sand... Its entire stomach was purple/blue and was EXTREMELY thin... The tail jus dragged on the ground... Sorry to get off topic but god does it ever make me mad!!!!
