If so, what classes are you taking this quarter?

I'm only taking two this quarter.

EMS 110 EMT-Basic

EMS 142 Vertical Rescue
(copied from school site)

This course is designed to present the fundamentals of rope rescue, using up-to-date equipment and techniques with a major emphasis on safety. Terminology, selection of proper equipment, essential knots, and current standards will be presented, as well as rope rescue systems and litter packaging. Practical application evolutions will include solving rescue problems and evaluating rope rescue systems and/or techniques. Includes rescue of the injured and/or stranded from ledges, cliffs, elevator shafts, etc.

That's cool. are you training to be an emt or a firefighter. I know in my area all emt's have to be trained in firefighting and firefighters have to be trained in emt. My aunt's ex is a firefighter and his new wife is an emt, and they had to be trained in the other area....

But I'm a student. I'm taking Business Calculus and Accounting 1... Fun times... I'm just hoping for a C in calculus so I don't have to take it again. I'm 100% online student, so teaching yourself calculus sucks. Ha.

Yup!:D I don't have to take the vertical rescue as part of my degree but I wanted to add another class and that sounded cool and I'm sure I will be able to use it here in Ohio or Kansas when I move out there in a few years.

To work in the city of Columbus for example just because it's the closest and it's one of the best districts to work at in the state. You have to have your 240(firefighter) and be at least an emt-basic. Some guys go onto to become paramedics also and some stick to just firefighting.

Cool job. Thanks for being willing to go into it! I just met a guy last week that wants to go into fire protection - he wants to be one of those people that gets dropped in the middle of forest fires alone except for their equipment. Crazy! :)

I'm in vet school at Oklahoma State University (first year), so I have no life. That pretty much sums it up, lol! I'm taking Physiology I & II, Anatomy, Histology, Zootechnology, and Jurisprudence and Ethics - 18 hours worth. I think I learned more in the first week of class than I usually learned in a month worth of undergrad. The scary part is, first tests are still two weeks away! :(

That's something I thought about but the only other place I will live is Kansas and forest fires aren't really all that common there lol. I am going to try and get into the search and rescue class if any seats open when fees are due. Hopefully someone forgets to pay their fees and I can steal their seat.:p

I'm a senior at Viginia Tech. My schedule at the moment is at 18 credits:

Equine Behavior and Training
Small Business Mgt
Insects and Society
Personal Financial Mgt
American Indian Studies
Human Sexuality

But since I'm a senior I've decided that schedule is just too much, so I have to pick two of the last three classes to drop (I'm leaning towards the last two). Nothing like a 12 credit semester senior year :D
