okay this might sound like a stupid question but does anyone use them hampster exercise balls for there gecko to walk in? I have heard of people doing it but was just curious if it would be a good idea or not I was thinking about picking one up and seeing if it liked it or not because it looks like it would be a good once in a while exercise for them any ideas input? thanks in advance.

Haven't heard of it being done.

Most of those hamster balls have small slits / holes in them for air to get in and out, I'd be concerned that it would be too easy for a geckos toe to be caught in one of those holes and broken as the ball rolled about.

I don't think the gecko would get anything out of it, so I personally wouldn't take the risk.

I've thought about it, but I concluded that a special "gecko ball" would have to be made before I'd use it. I've got some pretty active leos that just like to scurry all over the place and I think they'd enjoy it (I have some that I know would NOT, as well), but the hampster balls' slits worry me...wouldn't want my guys to rip out their little claws/break a toe or something..

So I haven't tried it

Funny, I thought of that before and just pictured a hampster ball just randomly rolling around our living room. But if I did do it, I know our guys would be dumb enough to try the stairs... even with adult supervision. lol. Obviously I'd have them on the first floor, but how funny is that picturing the ball flying thru the air with the gecko inside having the time of it's life?
