I bought 500 mealies, and started breeding them which worked out amazingly, (i have thousands now) but my lil girl is just to smart, she wont touch the mealies with a 5 inch stick... she even knows the Beatles are no good :main_laugh: i have tried only offering her mealies but i feel like a big meany so i get the roaches back out, and she right away eats those. any ideas on how to get her to eat them mealies?

some times I think they can just be selective. I have had plenty that didnt want anything to do with mealies and others that gobbled them up.

Just don't feed her for awhile, trust me, she'll get hungry and eat them. Your the boss, not her.

I think the mealies don't offer enough excitement. I mean all they do is eat sleep drink and poop...atleast you can have some fun while eating..

Shaun's got it right. Mine won't have anything to do with Mealies! Even when they are wriggling around like mad. All she eats is crickets...i'm going to buy some superworms and she if she likes the look of them!

I had a new gecko a while back that wouldnt eat mealies as well. i simply put the dish i had them in over the heat i front of her. They became more active which got her attention. Now i do not have to place them over the heat. Hope this works for you as well.

My guys won't eat mealies, either, since discovering the wonderful world of roaches. Just feed roaches. I think they are better for them, anyway.

Even though I bring my babies up on mealies, by the time they get to be near adult size, the ones I'm keeping don't want them. At the moment I have 14 leos, all adults or holdbacks from the previous season and only 2 of them will consistently eat mealies, even though I produced half of them and brought them up on mealies.
