it actually seems to be going good. the jumping can just be playing but the other dog might not want to play that way.

It can be the testing out stage since they don't know each other that well they don't know how far they can push before the other gets annoyed. my dog isn't mean but if a dog jumps on her back she'll growl and if he does it again she do a little snapping motion but its more of a warning because she never bits.

lol I hope so, hopefully they'll learn the others' boundaries soon, the neighbor is supposed to leave at the end of this month now.

Update!
Today we walked them just fine, they were fine also in the yard, except when Duby jumped on Chase a few times, but most of the time Duby backed off when Chase barked at him. We left them alone in the yard for about an hour, no problems, but it may be because they saw I was in the porch watching them for any behavorial problems =D. They're moving at the end of this week, so hopefully the two will be good before that...

That actually sounds pretty good! If Duby is moving back he's beginning to understand I can't do that with this dog let me back off and give him his space again. When i first put my cat home we separated them into different areas of the apt because we weren't sure how they would react once left alone and each time i came home from school I'd let them out and watch them I also would leave them out together when I would go next door or for short periods of time when I wasn't watching them like an hawk and they got along. I get the usual run around of them chasing each other from time to time but it's ok

Thanks Liz, I think that they've definetely been making improvements! I'm optimistic that we may be able to give Chase a home, because if we can't take him, the neighbors will have to bring him to the pound, but if they don't work out, then we will have to let them do that.

The day before Thanksgiving, and I couldn't be more thankful! Chase and Duby are actually better alone, I think it's just when they get excited or jealous of the other getting more attention. Their leashes are off, we're inside, and I'm looking out every few seconds to make sure all's good. I find it a bit odd that they're worse when we're out there though, you'd think it was the opposite....*shrug*. No fights yet, we're still in the middle of the session. Happy Thanksgiving!

WOW! They're actually playing! Chase is starting it, going in playing position, then they run around the yard, Chase leading, then of course rough housing....but in a good way. I'm so excited!

It was raining today, so we brought both Duby and Chase into the porch. No fights at all, which is great! Chase is well on his way to learning "sit", and a little of "down"(Duby already knows this stuff) too! They're capable to sharing toys now, and playing tug-a-war without fighting^^. I'm tired out from the extra work with Duby and Chase, but I don't care.

By the way, does anyone know what Chase could be mixed with? Thanks!

That's great it worked out!

Er... maybe he's a hound/shepherd/pitt something? He's pretty well mixed there- I'd just go with straight mutt. But I'd be willing to bet there's at least a little hound in there somewhere.

Thank you Alusdra! I thought I saw some pitt in there a couple of times, and he DOES have a hound's nose and listening skills, lol! I had some treats in my pocket, and he wouldn't stop sniffing and licking it a whole session! They can get along great if they want to, Duby likes to take away Chase's toys, Chase doesn't like him getting any, though!

I've had a couple of people say that Chase looks like a cross between a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a German Shepherd, what do you guys think about it? I think it's possible, especially the Ridgeback part.

But, we just let him in with Duby, and so far Duby actually seems to like it. Also, I have a question. Someone suggested that he may be a Ridgeless Rhodesian Ridgeback, is this possible? They also said that certain lines breed to have darker colours, like black. This is the exact reply:
I’ve had Ridgebacks for 13 years now, and have been closely associated with several rescue organizations, and your dog looks like a ridgeless RR with lots of black in the coat, which happens in certain lines.

i have a friend who had a dog whose whole head was black, and both his parents are full-blooded RRs.

We just got a rescue into Northern California, a girl, that looks identical to this dog. So I think you have yourself a full-blooded RR, ridgeless, with black in his lines.

He's about the size of a Doberman maybe, approx. 31 inches when sitting down. I don't know where he came from originally, sorry.

I was inside, when a huge fight started between the two. My brother was outside, and he was jumping around them, pretty much screaming at them to stop. Chase had his mouth around Duby’s neck, Duby was snarling, and I ran out there with the spray bottle, spraying both of them. No effect, so I jumped in the middle of the fight, grabbing Chase and pushing Duby away from him at the same time that my brother caught Duby, Chase was too strong and both of them attacked each other again. I grabbed Duby this time, and one of them bit me on the arm, though it only slightly, barely broke the skin on the arm. My brother got Chase, they escaped again..then I got Chase, my dad had come out and sort of "herded" Duby away with the spray bottle, and now Duby has a semi-deep cut above his left eye. My dad and brother brought him inside, and while they washed and disinfected the wound, I was inspecting Chase for any injuries. None at all, though when I got to his mouth area, I saw blood was smeared on one of his teeth [S27]. I scolded him, and when I got inside Duby too. I think Chase is staying outside tonight.

Was I right to scold them? No fights at all today except for this huge one, I was told. We'll keep working at it, though I feel sickened after today, that they did that....

It turned out that the reason that they were fighting was because my brother threw two balls in the opposite direction for each dog, but Duby went after Chase's. Chase let him take it, but then my brother went and praised Duby, and Chase got jealous.....hence the fight.
