Anyone else sleep a LOT?

For those of you who don't have kids, more than one job, are a breeder, or any other factors...do you sleep a lot? I work nights (10 pm-7 am). Some days after I get home from work I fall asleep around 8:30am and dont wake up until 8 pm. Some nights, my boyfriend will try to wake me up when he gets home (usually around 6 pm). There are times where I just CAN'T get out of bed. I will wake up, turn over to get up, and the next thing I know he's waking me up at 9 so I can get ready for work. Like just yesterday, I laid down at 4 pm to take a nap...and didnt wake up til 3 am this morning. Is that weird, or does anyone sleep a ton? I'm not depressed or sick so I don't get why I do that. Maybe I just like sleep? Haha. Sorry for those of you who are only able to get a few hours a night due to obligations (Ive been there before). Im not complaining about so much sleep, just wondering if its normal

I can sleep a good 12 hours when I have a chance to, though that is rare, so I dont know if it counts but on weekends if I dont work that day I sleep from like 10pm to 10am.

I find I rarely feel rested from sleep. And I'll sleep until someone or something wakes me up. AND I'll take loongg naps. :x

It might be the back shift that's doing it to you. My hubby worked backshift all last summer and he was a zombie all summer. It's like his body knew it should be awake during the day and it rebelled against him. He was sleeping like you do 10-14 hours a day every day and still sooo tired. He went back to days in the fall and he's only sleeping 7 or 8 hours a night and rested now.

The same thing happened to my husband as well when he was working as a night shift security guard. I hardly ever saw him because he slept all day and worked all night. When he was awake, he was really out of it. I think it's your body being overworked by the backshift.

I sleep a lot too (usually ten hours) but that's because my sleep is irregular and I'll either take forever to fall asleep or keep waking up several times throughout the night. Sleep aids make me stay asleep and fall asleep but when I wake up, I still feel tired.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I was thinking it might be working nights. Plus my job entails lots of moving and heavy lifting. I would assume it's because we're meant to be diurnal instead of nocturnal. I can sleep 10 hours during the day and still feel less rested than if I got 5 hours of sleep during the night. Thanks for the input :)
