just wondering if anyone was going to mars, cheswick or hamburg pa shows at the end of the month, and next. i was gonna go and try to find some gargs but dont know the chances of finding any there. never been to a show and dont know what to expect-prices and availiability. i live like an hour to 2 away from them and was wondering if it would be worth the time and gas(dodge ram 360-8mpg) to come back empty handed. if anyone has ever been to or seen some there please let me know....

a guy had a couple babies at havre de grace for under $50 each, don't know if he'd be at the western pa shows or not. in hindsight i wish i would have gotten a garg from him instead of the stupid tree frog i got from a different vendor that died three days later.:wall:

Ill probably go to at least one of them, the guy i got my cresteds from will be at probably all of them and i think he had some gargs too, in fact i know he did. He made me a GREAT deal on both of mine, a real nice breeder.

Yes, he has a website too, he was at the Mars one and the Cheswick one, so youll probably see him. I saw my crested at the first show and then kicked myself for not buying it and then a month later at the other show i saw it again and knew i had to buy him. http://home.netcom.com/~deadrats/h.htm thats his site if you want to check it out.

His name is Chuck Snyder. He is a pretty nice guy. I got a crestie and a garg from him at the past two consecutive shows in Mars. Both geckos are doing great. You might want to email him to see what he has and can bring to the show. He has a bunch of animals on his site. I might have to email him myself about a couple of them that I really liked. http://www.deadrats.net/

I checked out his site. He's got some really nice geckos available. I'd definitely grab a few if he shipped ups or fedex, versus usps. But, he kinda needs to clean his cages a little more often and feed cgd, versus baby food. I'd worry about that. But I'm sure it'd be easy to get them to switch. Definitely had a gargoyle or two that I liked. I'm not in the area though, so I won't be attending the show, so good luck guys on your grabs. Definitely post pictures of whatever you pick up.

I see...i ran across his site in the past, had emailed him with no response...ill try again before the show comes up. is it hard to ween then off baby food to cgd? i suppose just mixing it to percenteges would do? he has the best selecetion ive seen as far as gargoyles go...

He told me, when i bought mine from him, that his never really liked the CGD and he uses crickets, for whatever reason thats how my two have been, they never really seem to care for the CGD but love their crickets. I still use both because i have seen them on the side of the dish licking it.

The best way to get them off baby food is to offer cgd only, no crickets, baby food/cgd mix or any other food item until they start eating cgd reguarly. If they know you are going to give in and give them other food between the cgd feedings they will hold out for the other food.
Sometimes it can take a few weeks before they start eating a lot of it and if they are still small you probably wont notice any of it gone the next day.

picked up 2 pastel gargs from chuck at the show. seem to pretty nice gecks, and pretty timid. chuck was a great guy to deal with and seemed to know his stuff. there was so many repts. there that i coulda spent a lot more than i had easily. especially on those african gators...anyone else pick anything up?

I know this is rather late but I thought this was funny. :main_laugh: I got my girl Val from Harve De Grace's Reptile Expo.

Hamburg is a decent show, I usually go a couple times a year. Gargs should be available from a few breeders. White Plains NY show in my opinion is the best show in the Tri-State area
