Is it a good size show? I haven't been to it before. My husband has a fight that Saturday night, so I'm not sure we'll want to drive that far the next morning. But if it's big, then I might be tempted.

I looked at the vendor list and probably won't be going. I think the one in Wheaton is bigger, so it's not worth the 3-4 hour drive for me.

While the Wheaton show is bigger, if you're not buying a chicken or a dog, we have about the same amount of reptile vendors, possibly even more. We also have a lot more geckos than Wheaton, and our show is all Captive Bred. You should come check out the fall show.

It always makes sense to contact the prospective vendors first and ask whether they will really be there, before you go to a show, if you want to buy something specific ;) The Wheaton vendors' list is not updated before each show. For example, I only sold there on July 10 and August 8 this year, but I'm always on the list. On the days I was there, I was the only vendor who had solely leopard geckos (a few had a handful on tables with other animals). I would never go to Wheaton as a customer again without asking who will be there, so I'm not disappointed. I made sure Jeremy Letkey was there in 2008 when I wanted specific morphs. Imagine driving for 7 hours one way just to find out there is nobody with leos on that day!!! Same goes for AFTs and cresteds, or whatever you're looking for.

Sometimes you might have a great show at the same place, and on other days it might be disappointing, depending on who shows up. Vendors could do a better job at contacting each other to find out how many vendors of one species will already be at the same show. Sometimes, there's a real shortage, and at other times, there's too much competition, which can result in dumping prices. Also, newer breeders with medium-quality morphs probably won't do very well at the same show with big breeders who sell grade-A morphs. I think it would make sense to bring a bit more organization in this and find out in advance who's going when. The online vendor lists should be updated for each specific show, even if it's more work.

Some days at Wheaton are better than others. But it's doing well enough that Pangea has been coming and JMG has been there. Special K also makes it sometimes, so there are plenty of out of state vendors.

It is hit or miss with leos and afts. There are always tons of snakes, cresties, and frogs. I like it and it's only 1 hour 15 minutes away. I would hate to drive 3+ hours (4-5 during construction) one way to sewerfest and not like anything. If I was in the area, I would definitely stop by. I just didn't see any vendors that I wanted to go for.
