Anyone know what type of Leo mine is?

I bet it is a baby male leopard gecko and i think it is just a normal leopard gecko(they look like that when they are little) but dont try breeding it because it might not be male

Nowadays wild-caught leo's are actually pretty expensive and hard to get. There are several named subspecies (and actually more than one species in the genus). In Europe they are starting to breed some of these distinct subspecies more or less "pure" (not mixed with other leopards from other localities), and they are fairly expensive compared to our "mixed bag" leos here in the U.S. A few U.S. breeders are doing the same.

Here are the subspecies of leopard geckos so far recognized:

Eublepharis macularius macularius
Eublepharis macularius afghanicus
Eublepharis macularius fasciolatus
E. m. montanus
E. m. smithi

When leo's started being imported to the U.S. the dealers did not recognize the different subspecies, so they mixed individuals from all different locales.....and so the vast majority of our leopard geckos in the trade today are a "melting pot" of different subspecies. Remember, I'm talking about real, natural "races" here, not all the various genetic "forms" we've "created" over the years (like blizzards, ghosts, pineapple upside-down cake....okay I made that last one up....but you get my meaning...).

and that's not even considering the other species in the genus Eublepharis, but that is a post for another time....

Loving the colors, if you got him from a petstore, they usually buy cheap from breeders. You never know if you will end up with a snake eyes, a super snow, or an enigma! As leolover said could be an enigma or an incomplete stripe.

I have never seen a petstore take in wild caught animals. Plus, mainly only breeders use wild animals to increase genetic diversity and expand bloodlines. I know that when breeding fat tail geckos you have the hachlings bred back to the wild parents if one or the other has a desirable trait (well you can do that with really any reptile).

@Tagia I agree! The Pets-mart store never Sells Leopard Gecko's for the right price though. Gecko's are for 20$ there and some of them are really exotic and have amazing color's and morphs. On the Urban Gecko i could buy Gecko's for Hundreds of $. And they sell the same thing that Pet's mart sells.... But any way @Gopher Your gecko could turn out to be a lot of things. They normally Develop there colors as they get older but a lot of the time you will see 25% to Half there body pattern while they are young!

Dude i swear i feel the Same! Every day simple pieces of knowledge about these guys make jitter! I can't stand that I'm such a Novice and that there is so much to learn. Its a un explainable rush of happiness! I love my Gecko's so much that if no one wants to go get Worms for my Gecko's i won't eat dinner And if any one says " If they die ill buy you another " There beat!

Agreed. I could look at them all day. When having gecko's you can never get bored. On the other hand i almost have no time to have fun with my Leo's... ( Home Work - School - Exercise - Having to do what every one else wants to do ). So that real takes out time for my Gecko fun
