I'm using it right now, because I bought a female that laid 3 days after purchase. Let's just say I didn't have an incubator prepared yet. I use a glass top, with a nice submersible 100 watt heater, and a plastic container for the eggs, with the lid tilted for air exchange/so no condensation drips on the eggs.
-So far it seems to be working well. Nice humidity, plump eggs, nice temp.s, but only time will tell, I guess. **fingers crossed**
It works for me. I don't actually put my container in the water though. I have a towel sling going across the top of the tank. This is secured by clips on the top of the tank. I then have the water about 2 inchs lower than the towel with a heater set at about 5 degrees lower than the desired temp. Then for a lid I have an aquarium top with a 15w bulb shining down on the opposite side of the tank. I then keep the tank ventilate and temps controlled by holding the lid open about an inch with just a small wedge. I have my eggs in small containers covered with plastic wrap. For air exchange I open the plastic wrap every five days to make sure all the eggs are perfecto.
My temperatures usually stay within 1 of my desired temp not fluctuating too much unless the light is moved closer or farther away. The bad thing about this is that it takes a week or so to get your temps and then you have to keep your house at the same temp. If you do change you house temp change the incubators temp accordingly.
This is just something I created with what I had. I noticed that with the containers not being directly in the water that it helps them keep they're temp. Hope this helps some people.
