Are mealies dangerous?

I've heard from a few people that meal worms can get swallowed whole and then eat their way right out of your gecko's stomach. Is this true?

thats a very old and widely used but false urban legend the worm mostly used though is a superworm a mealwork takes days just to eat part way into a potato let alone thru a Leos stomach the digestion would take care of the thing in a matter of ours if that
