Are Real Plants A Good Idea...?

I was wondering if it would be okay if I put in some real cacti or perhaps a succulent or two in my gecko tank as it needs some greenery. They would be in small pots of course, but I haven't seen anyone do this so I don't know if it could a no-no or what. I'd imagine that whatever the plant is grown in might possibly be gobbled up, but cacti and succulents grow so close to the soil I can't see a gecko even getting at it.

The fake plants are ridiculously priced. :\

in my thoughts
well plants usually bring moisture into the air which leopards dont need (high).
Leopards can be really messy with loose substrate like the soil and so they would just dig at it. My highest concern with this being that Canti and other plants can be dangerous to your gecko!. The thorns can puncture your leos skin and cause gashes, infections and serious damage. You wouldn't want a hysterical leo running around with a thorn in its eye or on its side :(
I would go with fake plants, but because of their high prices it can be a problem Maybe go on days when they have sales and I sometimes see those types of Items on sale. Another good decor is fish tank supplies. They are sometimes similar to that of reptiles and are almost always on clearance at big chain stores :)
Well good luck

Edit: if taken the right measures some succulent could be used. The smooth kind that is :)

I was thinking of an aloe vera in particular or a scalloped cactus (think that's what they're called). Because they don't have prominent thorns and grow close to the soil. I work at a pet store and so do get a discount but some of the ones I really like are still a bit expensive despite that. Ah well, if it means that I still get a nice looking tank and healthy gecko I'll get the fake stuff. Thanks for the advice. :)

Try going to micheals to look for fake plants. They are much better priced and there is a bigger selection. And most of them acutally look real

I had a real plant in one of my leo's tanks once and she got into it and scattered the dirt everywhere :main_angry:
