My dad just saw leo for the first time and he is hooked lol. He really wants one, but does not want to have insects in the house. He was wondering if there are any lizards he could get that do not eat insects. I do not believe there are any, but would appreciate it if someone could give me some more specific facts about it. Thanks

Yes, but you still feed crested crickets. A lizard that is personable and doesn't require the insects as feeders is the UROMASTYX....great lizards. Look them up they are awesom.:main_thumbsup:

Hi,

an adult iguana iguana is herbivor. The young ones need insects for growing up.

@ gecko_man2: Where did you read, that Uromastyx doesnt need insects?
Its like bearded dragons, the adults eat more herbivor, but need insects. And so it is by Uromastyx. This is,what i know.

We have two uromastyx. They are great and they don't need insects. Actually, people who have kept them and breed them say insects should only be given very rarely and only as treats. They also say it is better to not feed them insects at all. Lindsey Pike is a great breeder of Uromastyx and this information came from him. His website is www.urotopia.com.

We do... I forgot about our little guy. Yes we have three... two malis and one little ornate. They take forever to grow.

Crested geckos can actually be fully sustained on Crested Gecko Diet by Sandfire Dragon Ranch. It is made with enough protein to supplement insects, so it is a complete diet.

Crested geckos can be fed a staple of CGD, they dont need to be fed cricks. Iguanas eat alll greens but make poor pets and defently not for begginers.

Iguanas DO Not Eat/Need protein from insects at any stage of their life
They are strictly herbivores and to feed them insects is a totally incorrect diet for their digestive system
just my 2 cents

Hello,

@ Sandy: We feed our adult iguana-female herbivore. But a friend of mine, who breeds green iguanas, gives his hatchlings once a week insects or,when they are a little grown,a babymouse. His gravid females also get insects or a babymouse, and the iguanas do very well.

In german literature is also told, that it is no problem,to feed young iguanas once a week with insects. It should be clear, that iguanas eat 98% herbivore. The dose makes the poison;) .

Greetings

Matthias
