I don't think so... I didn't think BPs had het markers. If some do and some don't, then I'd think that it's really not a marker... I don't know though.
In our experience, we haven't noticed any true markers for either boas or pythons.
Clear bellies and yellow bellies are said to be markers for ivories, etc. but unless they are proven out, it may just be an incredibly sexy snake, ya know?
Not trying to discredit markers. I just haven't really noticed anything significant yet. Then again, it may take another generation (or two) to bring out that possible morph. (Did that make sense?)
Oh yeah! And theres like a tri-coloring to their eyes, also, right?
(Didn't even think about the eyes)
While on the subject of eyes, is it a lighter green coloring in a bp's eyes that is a possible marker for pastel (I think)? Or is that my "old" acting up again?
This getting senile stuff is for the birds...:main_huh:
hey, guys, i just wantedt o chime in quick. there ARE genitic markers for boas and pythons...of the top of my head i cant think of any, but as soon as i get a chance i will tell you some. the thing is, theyre not like what you guys are talking about. its more along the lines of someone getting in 400 wc babies, and one of them having a wierd looking spot on its tail and breeding that to see what you can get. and also "technicly" speaking, anything that is co-dom with a super form would be considerd a marker (ie pastel, ivory, mojave. these are of course BPs and not boas) but as i said they're out there. first chance i get i will let you guys know.
PS. as far as boas, there is a mutation called the motley, wich is codom, and produces a super morph, that is compleatly black with no markings. as i said, in a sence, that is a marker
yeah i understand that. the main part of my post was about the imports that have the markers. thats what all those big wigs look for when they import. NERD, outback reptiles, Bob clark. when they get their imports in, they look for abnormalities. i just threw the codom thing in there because i was thinking about it at the time
