Argh Financial Aid!!!

School started January 21st, yippy!!! I paid my bill and everything so I thought everything was going to be fine. Last week I found out I was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Switzer Foundation for Medical Technologist. I was happy but then again annoyed, if I would have received this scholarship at the beginning of the year like I was suppose to I could have saved $2,000. Anyway when I went to check my bill I saw I had a surplus of $1,999.00 which I could use for books as long as all my other financial aid cleared. I checked my financial aid again today and found out that I know owe $334 because TAP ( a $2,334 scholarship) hasn't been certified by the school. Of course I'm going nuts because as long as that $334 is only my bill I'm responsible for the interest that's added on. So I call the school and ask why it hasn't been certified and I get the rudest person. She said I'm not the state I can't tell you what your getting. Well that wasn't my question now was it? I asked why hasn't the school certified the scholarship? Oo you'll have to wait until March or April. What!? Why do I have to wait so long when my boyfriend who goes to the same school had his certified on Tuesday the day before school and now has $1,000 to spend on books! I ask her is there anything to speed up the process because that surplus would really help me pay for my textbooks because I don't have anym money left after paying damn near $6,400 on tuition which doesn't include the $400 I spent on books last semester!!! Ahh. She tells me oh I guess you'll have to pay for you books out of pocket then and save the money for next semester or pay the $334 and they'll release the reward money to my account once I have a $0 balance  .

I'm very annoyed! Even if I buy the books used I'll still need atleast $400. I need 2 chemistry textbooks and 2 chemistry lab books, a calculus book and some textbook for my pharmacogenomics class. Those textbooks use are around $100 each and the lab books would mostly need to be new :(

All I can say is I'm really sorry. Those financial aid office people have way too much power. Just remember to be disgustingly nice no matter how much it kills you. It could help. Keep trying eventually you'll get someone willing to help.

Halleluah!

They cleared it!!! Now i have money for books and some left over to carry over for next semester!!! The best thing is when I walked into my Chemistry Class I spoke to the instructor and told him that this was my first Chemistry class in St.John's and that I was a little confused about the protocol and stuff. We spoke and I told him I didn't have the first lab book and he went to his office and gave me a FREE one! He said we were doing only 5 experiments out of it and it was useless to go a buy one for like $50.
