My girflriend and I just got our first Leopard Gecko, Artemis. We've had "her" for a few weeks now. I'm not quite sure how old she is since I got her at a pet store and they didn't know.

She's cool. She's starting to get a bit more tame.

Without further ado, here's Artemis:

I originally had used some fine sand from the pet store as a substrate since they recommended it. Then I started reading on here about the dangers of loose substrate so I changed it last night to tile. I have reptile carpet on half of it just to mix up the texture for her.

I have no idea if she's too young to sex yet, but I'm leaning towards female. I have a few pics of her underside that I'd like input on:

Oh really? What makes you think she's ovulating? I'm completely new to geckos.

I figured it was a female by the lack of visible pores and bulges but I wasn't sure. As for the eggs... I'm completely lost when it comes to that.

Haha I love how we all seem to shove them in the Kricket Keepers to get belly shots XD *is how I took them as well* but she looks great & her tank setup is nice

She's probably not ovulating at that size, unless she had contact with an adult male, in which case, that could be bad. I had a female that size that went in with an adult male on accident, her ovaries got really infected and swollen pressing up against her stomach and lungs causing nausea (I caught her yawning a lot), mouth rot, and rapid breathing.

I would suggest that those white spots are just her ovaries or other organs.

She hasn't had any exposure to adults at all. She was with a few other juveniles, but no adults.

Haha... yeah. She's not tame enough to let me hold her and see her belly. She'll crawl around on me, but she certainly doesn't like being grabbed yet.

Am I just really hungry, or does that second picture make anyone else think "chocolate chip cookie dough"? :laugh4: :D
Mmmmm.... cooooookieeeesss.
