Hey all. First off, I just wanted to say thanks to all of the regular contributors on this forum. It has helped me start off my first Leopard Gecko right!

My question is related to setting up a small-scale Leopard Gecko operation. I would like to do this for a few reasons:

1) I would love to help these animals complete their life cycles.

2) I would enjoy learning more about morphs and genetics with Leopard Geckos.

3) I have access to stores and vendors that would be interested in purchasing geckos of all qualities.

My questions include:

Is this kit all I need to get started besides appropriate animals?

Will a 20 gallon tank with 2-4 females and one male result in happy, healthy animals if maintained at proper temp and humidity levels?

Can anyone direct me towards a book or website with what experienced keepers around this site would call reliable advice?

Thanks!

The hobovator (advertised in lllreptile) is a good starter incubator that I used for my first 5 seasons. There are some problems with it which you can read about if you do a forum search for "hobovator". Ideally you need a proportional thermostat to go with it which will probably cost another $100.
That kit, plus the thermostat is all you need to incubate the eggs. In addition you need food and housing for the babies and the resources for vet visits if required. A great resource is to read through the breeding section of the forums and copy and paste any info that looks useful so you have it in one place.

tank population: many people keep their geckos individually and only introduce the male to the female for mating purposes. I keep my breeding colonies together for the season and don't have problems. However, a 20 gallon long tank (30" long) is good for 2 geckos. I house 3-4 geckos in a 20 gallon long by adding a heated 12"x12" upper level. I wouldn't keep 5 adult geckos in a tank that size.
