Baby crestie development??

I bought two cresties a month ago. They were about 3 months old when I got them, and both weighed 3 grams.
They have only gained 1 gram in the whole month that I've had them. And it is still at 4 grams. They are closer to 3 grams than 5.. :/
Is this normal?? Excluding tail, they are barely as big as my pointer finger... Including tail, they are 4 inches long.

I've never owned cresties prior to this, so I'm not sure if this is at all normal.. I keep a water bottle cap of crested gecko diet in their tank (which is a 10 gallon on it's side) at all times, and hand feed them every second day. One of them has completely refused to hand feed now (although he eats 2 week crickets like he's starved), and the other is still hand feeding fine.
However, I don't want to feed crickets all the time, or hand feed all the time, because I don't want them to become dependent on it.. :/
I mist them twice a day, and I find a few healthy poops a week.

Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance,
Stephanie

Cresteds grow really slow. Plus, you can't ever tell how much CGD they're eating. Most new Crested owners think that their new baby is starving to death but they're usually eating when you're not watching. Just leave the CGD in the tank and look for poops, that's the best way so gauge how much they're eating. I've noticed that ours always hit a growth spurt where it seems like they go from babies to juvies overnight and then again when they jump to adult size.

Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better. :) I'm used to my leopard geckos gaining more than 4 grams a month.. :p How often should I feed them crickets, or hand feed them? Thanks again!

And also.. In a month, might a mention, I've barely gone through a teaspoon of crested gecko diet, and a lot of it has been wasted, because it dried up in their tank.. :/

id feed crickets maybe twice a week at most at the very most because the cgd has all the nutrition they need. so crickets are not needed at all in all honesty. but it does help to keep them sane imo. My little guy knows when he is getting crickets and loves that day he will look at me all night on the day he gets feed crickets. Then when i actually drop them in he gets to them before they hit the ground it seems.

i guess joker is just chubbby then because i use a coke botle top for his cgd and it always is down some from the first set of twist to the second set after a night if not a little more.

Leogirl,

Poop is a good sign. CGD being wasted is something all of us deal with. lol.

What are you feeding your CGD in and how much are you feeding?

Will

What do you mean "what do I feed my CGD?"

I keep a water bottle cap full in there all the time, and hand feed every second day, although they don't really hand feed anymore.

Thank you!

The reason why I'm so worried is because my friend has a baby crested gecko that ate fine, pooped, and he simply didn't grow. A couple months later, he died. Is it normal for them to only gain 1 gram a month?

Thanks! :)
