We have crikets and stuff but should i put them in thier??? and the crikets look a little big but the guy at the pet store said they were just fine.
So should i offer him the crickets on my hand or on a tong or something???

He's adjusting to his new surroundings. Leave him alone for a few days - don't try to handle him or feed him, just let him calm down and acclimate.

Yeah he's just adjusting and they are nocturnal. Don't try to feed them for a couple of days.

I always ask people to wait at least a day to feed Leos they get from us. It's also a good idea not to try handling them for at least a week.

I'm guessing this is a leopard gecko. If so, just let it hang out the first night. They can be a little skittish at first as they get used to their new home. Expect to see the little one in the hide most of the time. They are nocturnal creatures. When you do feed crickets, you can just put them in the tank/tub etc... Leos hunt by striking at movement. Just keep searching the forum, and asking any questions you want. You will get a lot of answers.

I'd feed it tomorrow. I fed my juvie and he chased his crickets right away.

If he doesn't eat, try the next day.

No, he won't starve.

Reptiles can go an amazingly long time without food.

Many times when you get a new Leo, or reptile, they may not eat for a few weeks.

Yes you want to leave the UTH on all night, it should not change much but if your too worried then get up in the middle of the night and check the temps. The temps on the hot side should be between 88-95 so you may have to get a reostat to control that. If the baby doesnt eat for 6 days it is not that big a deal, although it is something that you will have to watch to make sure she isnt loosing weight and she is going to the bathroom regularly. If you have any more questions you can leave them on here or message me.

P.S. This is a leopard gecko right? Cause I saw your post about crested's so I was just making sure.

*grins* I appreciate all your worrying over what is undoubtedly a precious little gecko. Leopard geckos are very hardy, even babies, and your little guys is fine. As others have said before, he's just adjusting to his new domain. It may take him a few days to finally come out. He's also been in a box for a while if you had him shipped, so he's probably as rattled as you would be if you've been shaken and stirred for 24 hours.

If your UTH is on one side of the tank, it's probably fine to leave it on so long as it only heats the substrate and not the air (if it's heating the tank itself it's probably too hot to begin with). Your temps are pretty much spot on. I think you're good to go.

If you haven't purchased a leopard gecko book yet, I highly recommend Ron Tremper's guide to leopard geckos. You can buy it on amazon.com or his website, www.leopardgecko.com. It's an excellent reference tool, and even people who have been breeding leopards for a while (myself included) still go back to it for information every once in a while.

Keep us informed about your little guy, but I think it'll all work out fine for you.

No need to buy a book, you've got gecko forum. You can find all the information you will ever need on here and a bunch of experianced people to answer your questions.

As for the temps they do need to be a little warmer on the hot side.

Oh I know, I'm just a bookworm. There's just some sort of psychological security information in print gives me. ;-) It's like a security blanket. Plus the pictures are pretty.

Just see if it will eat, if it does, it does, if it doesn't, try again later.

Your temps on the floor of the hot side should be in the 90's.

If it's too cool, most won't eat.

Your Hot side needs to be 90-96... Honestly it just sounds like your Gecko is too cold.

If you already have an UTH, I also have a 75 watt red bulb for mine. Keeps the hot side about 92. Towards summer, I should be able to turn it off.

If you cant get your temps up then get an infrared bulb to shine on that side. I have to do that in the winter to help the floor temps.

As far as feeding goes you want to try to feed everyday, but like someone else said if it doesnt eat for a couple of days it will be ok.
