Bad Breeders

I just had the worst experience with a breeder EVER! So I've been inquiring about a pair of leos that he had (not really into breeding leos again, but I saw them and had to have them). He said 'yea they're both available. What's your zip so I can see the shipping price.' I sent him the zip and my reply was 'sorry the female has a deposit made on it' WHAT THE CRAP!! dude i've been asking about them. he could have informed me that someone else was also asking about them too. I replied asking whether or not they asked before or after me bc i was looking forward to the pair... oh well...reputable breeder my butt... i went elsewhere to pay slightly more but whatever... hopefully this pair will be available too... i don't want to pay two shipping prices at two different places. plus i'm boycotting the first place...

I know it is disappointing when you have your heart set on something, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you! But, looking at it from the breeder's point of view, I can't count the number of inquiries I get where people say they are going to buy a gecko and I never hear from them again. In cases like yours, I try my best to inform the original inquiring party when someone else is interested, but in reality it is 'first come, first served'... or should I say 'first pay, first gets'. In the future, if the breeder accepts deposits to hold the gecko you plan on purchasing, jump on it!

I'm sorry you did not get the geckos you wanted. But like Marcia said, First pay, gets it. Someone may have been inquiring abut them the same time you were and just beat you to it.
