I will probably be mia from the forum for little while. My grandma has cancer and took a turn for the worse this week. They put her in hospice and she was on so many pain meds that we didn't get to see her on Christmas. We were told today to start making funeral arrangements and that she probably won't make it another week. It could be any day.:( I'm closest to my grandma and have always been her favorite, so this is really hard. My husband's step father of 25+ years passed away last week. This has been the worst Christmas ever.:(

I'm so sorry Kristi that's horrible news for this time of the year. It's very difficult to know that someone you love and care for might not be around much longer but sadly it's something that we all have to face at one point in our lives.

You and your family are going to be in my prayers tonight. *hugs*

Ohhhh Kristi! I am so sorry about your father-in-law and your grandmother! The Holidays are difficult for many people as it is, but to have to deal with this is just too much. I'm sending lots of prayers your way...

I'm sorry to hear of your tragedy. All you can do is try to make the best of the time you have left with your grandma. I really don't know what else to say. I know that there isn't much that anyone can say to make you feel better, but I'll put you and your family in my prayers. Take as much time as you can with your grandma to reflect on better times and good memories. Cancer has had a huge impact on my life as well, I sympathise with you wholeheartedly.

Thank you for your thoughts and support. She is actually a breast cancer survivor, too. She had it in her late 20's and is in her mid 70's right now. This time it's liver cancer. She was perfectly fine a few months ago.:( We were planning a cruise to Jamaica for June and then she started having a hard time eating and had a bunch of tests done and they found it. It was too close to a main artery so they were not able to operate to remove it. They told us she could live for years, but it's only been a couple months since they found it. None of us thought it would happen this quickly.:(

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Kristi. I know how it feels to lose someone to cancer. Lost my mom to it last year after a long battle with it. Horrible disease I hope they find a cure for one day.

Oh Kristi.. I am so so sorry... I know how that feels.
My grandma passed away in January this year.. she had been in and out of the hospital numerous times. We spent last Christmas in the hospital with her.
She had a lung condition. It was caused by smoking most of her life, and not made any better by the fact that she had asthma.
Before she passed she could barely breathe... I remember going into the hospital and seeing bruises all over her arms from the nurses and doctors trying to insert the IV.. it was so hard to see.

If you ever need to talk, I will be here.
Keep your head up, okay?
