Bad News at Work

I knew something was going on when I got a call from a man wanting to speak with someone in HR. The lady he wanted wasn't there. I offered another lady, who he said would be fine.

Later the same man called asking for a lady in another employee's department. Then the initial lady the guy wanted from HR called in.

Something was wrong.

I go to lunch, come back, and my replacement was in tears and headed to the hospital.

An employee is officially brain dead. He had a mild stroke last week and was headed for recovery and therapy soon. Then today or at least within the past day or two, he had a massive stroke and a heart attack, and has been deemed brain dead with 24 hours to live.

The entire company is in shock and upset at this. Larry was such a great guy. He raised a wonderful daughter, who just had a baby boy. She and her husband decided to move back to be with family. He was thrilled because was super close to his daughter. He had everything going for him.

There are just no words...

It's a sad day at work. Everyone is in shock and tears.

I'm sad for his daughter, but more sad for the baby who will never get to see his grandfather. The baby boy is losing something he never knew he had. Someone who would have been a huge impact on his life.

There are no words to describe it. I've lost family before, but this is different. Undescribable.

I'm very sorry to hear of this. I lost a co-worker many years ago to a brain aneurysm, it was VERY shocking to everyone. He was only 23 at the time.

So sad.

My love and prayers to you, your family, and theirs. God will make everything work out--try to look at the bright side of things. At least his daughter had a chance to get close to him before he passed. I hope you all find comfort. Love, T.

Thanks everyone... They pulled his life support about mid morning today. They said if he was able to sustain without the life support, he would life the rest of his life as a vegetable because there just wasn't enough brain activity. He died. His family were already planning the funeral before the doctors pulled the plug.

It's quite quiet at work... Just as quiet as it was Tuesday... :-/

The doctors were even optimistic for his recovery until he had the massive stroke and heart attack... I did learn today, that not only did he have the mild stroke last Thursday, but he had a small one at work the week or two before, and he refused to go to the doctor then. His body just couldn't take it.
