Hi I was wondering if u guys could help me I wanting to get a ball python but I don't know what size of tank would be good to start with I have a few 10 gallons sitting around that aren't being used but I don't know if one would work for awhile and I don't have any idea on how to set one up but I have made DIY hides for my leopard geckos and would like to male one for a ball python also please help lol

What size snake would you be getting?

And unless you feel like rapping up screen tops in foil and constantly switching damp towels, it would be best to just use a tub.

Here is a pic of one of my tubs (28qt ) My water dish is more towards the corner, i moved it in this pic for a better shot at the thermometer/hygrometer.


You could start off in a 16qt if your getting a younger bp, or 28qt with a few extra hides. If you have questions just ask. Just remember research is key, and its your research that will decide if your snake will thrive or not. Do research on your own, then when you find something a bit confusing maybe contradicting you ask. Its work best for me this way.

That looks great but can u use a uth on tubs or not and I am wanting to get a baby male pastel or pinstripe or maybe even an albino if I can find one for around 75 but I doubt I can lol

Only one of those you might find for around $75 is a average pastel. Cheapest you will find an albino is $250 for a young male of course.

Yes you can use a UTH, it won't melt. Does all the plastic in the world melt when it gets 92f outside ? Get a thermostat and either temp gun or digital probe thermometer to measure your temps and you should be fine.

For insurance reasons, the UTH's say NOT to use with plastic.
I believe if they DID start a fire, you wont be covered?
