Be careful when misting!

I noticed the humidity in one of my tanks was a bit low last night so I got the sprayer out and was intent on giving the tank a wee bit of a misting.

I opened up the door, checked where Stumpy was so I didn't soak / startle him, and started spraying ... stupidly I wasn't really paying much attention to what I was doing and I managed to spray a bit on the bulb, which promptly exploded. (I guess hot bulb + cold water = crack, boom).

Needless to say I had to take everything out of the tank and give it a good wash to ensure there were no splinters of glass in anywhere.

It's a bit common sense really, but something to be wary of if your ever misting your tank.

If you have a humid hide do you need to spray your tank a bit ? Just wondering cause I never spray my leopard geckos cage.

Nah, I don't think so. Some people do it because their leos only lick the cage for water, don't drink out of a dish. Or when their leo is in shed and they dont have a wet hide. I've never done it..

I do have a wet hide, but my Leo's won't go anywhere near it, so I occasionally give the tank a bit of a misting, we're probably talking like once every two or three weeks, nothing regular.
