We went up for Columbia, SC Repticon to vend and I took my juv dragon along. Lacey traveled in a big deli inside the styro chest along with the other lizards to maintain temp, but went into a 15qt sterlite upon arrival, then on to the hotel for the night. I have a big heat panel that kept her nice and warm, and ordered a side dish at Cracker Barrel for her dinner. Tender cooked baby carrots, which she happily gobbled up. Next day at the show, she kept an eye on everything and got to socialize a bit. She was ecstatic with the big box of crickets I got for her. Saturday night she went to the USARK auction with us but slept thru the whole thing, covered up in her tub. It was a big day and she was tired. On Sunday, she saw another dragon propped up on it's own pillow, and seems to think she needs one also.

I'm glad Lacey did so well for the trip because I didn't feel comfortable leaving her alone for 3 days. Tho we didn't take along a light for her, she did just fine with her temporary setup. No noticeable stress.

With the holidays coming up, folks who have daily care animals should be looking at their options and making some necessary arrangements if animals are to be left at home during travel. Waiting till the last minute is asking for trouble. And have a plan B :)

You could also get her this:

At the Memphis Repticon in October, I met the vendor who made those. Her beardies also wore necklaces.

:D

Oh my.... a hammock! I love it! And a possibility! Lacey is now big enough to take out to the herp club, a visit to my mother's, Thanksgiving at my daughters........ all safe places for a dragon, so she'll be getting a harness/leash this weekend at the show. After the big outing last weekend, she's staying home this show since we won't be gone as long. Spoiled as she is, a present will be expected :)

aww, what an adventure! Ryuu recently got a pillow topped with her rice pillow, she's decided brumating isn't for her so far this fall (yay!). We're planning on moving cross country (hopefully soon), so knowing I can put her in a styrofoam chest takes a load off my mind. (Now... if only I could move the cats and dogs that easily.....)

I love those baskets with the pillows! I saw those at a reptile expo I went to, and was sorely tempted. I might end up having to get one.

Edit: heh, I didn't realize it was Chrissy that posted that. We were at the same expo, lol. Travis has a black and white necklace that he likes to break out for special occasions. I really should get a necklace for Hagrid too.

Whitney, a human heating pad works great to warm up animals on a trip. I think that was a key factor in Lacey's experience. Even tho she didn't have UVB for a few days, there was plenty of overhead lighting so she knew it was daytime/playtime.

Some of the tiny doggie clothes might fit an adult dragon :) There's a bearded dragon store in Tampa, FL that has their halloween party photos on facebook, White Hot Dragons. The last few shows we've vended at in Tampa, we were fortunate to be set up right next to them. Great folks :)
