I was at a Boy Scout camp and ppl sprayed bear repellent all over their tent. Unknowing to them you shot it at bears to repel them away from you, not on your tent which only attracted the bears who destroyes the tent.

I live in NH, we get them around here a lot, I saw one once in The White Mountains, about 2 hours from me, I was driving down the Kangamangus Highway and saw a Black Bear on the side of the road, I took a picture but it was cloudy out so it didn't come out good. It was only about 10 feet away from me, it was cool

Get a hold of this story:

In Gatlinberg, TN a man got out of his car to take pictures of a mother bear and her cub, and was stupid enough to allow his dog to come with him. Of course, the dog charged the bears and, doing what anybody would think would happen, the mother bear defended her cub and ended up just slapping the man across the face, resulting in just a few scratches. However, the man reported it and the officials up there had to kill the bear because she attacked a human! How STUPID is that?!?! Now, a bear cub has to be raised by humans because an idiot didn't know what the heck he was doing. They shouldn't have killed the bear in the first place, all she did was defend her cub and give that guy a few scratches. If you ask me, he was lucky as hell that she didn't eat his dog then tear off the guys face. And even if they did have to kill the bear (which they didn't), I think the guy should be billed for all of the expenses associated with the hunting of the bear and the raising of the cub. But of course, he won't. This probably belongs in Rant and Raves, but geezus when my dad told me this story, it pissed me off so much. If anyone has a link to an original story of this, please provide it, as I said, my dad told me so he might not have remembered everything.

This makes me sick! I know humans are "More Superior" but for God's sake! Bears and all other animals have just as much right to live as we do. It seams, anything that inconveniences us even a tiny little bit, we kill. We, as humans, won't be happy until we are the only living creature son this planet.

Here is a link to a video of the news report, it says they are looking for the mother, doesn't say she was killed, but this was from the day it happened, they may have found and killed her by now:

My sister was telling me how there was a wild Turkey that would stand on top of a telephone pole everyday near where I live, and people would slow down to see it and cause traffic to pile up. So, they killed the turkey. :main_angry:

It just makes me sick to be human some times. Truthfully, if you ask me, that story is a perfect example of the beauty of natural selection. Stupid creatures (in this case a human) that do stupid things are weeded out from the stronger, wiser gene pool so that only the best genes are passed on through the generations.

Killed the bear & killed the turkey? Why not just kill the stupid people? How close would this guy have to be to the bear to get slapped? TOO CLOSE...the bear should have killed him and dragged his dead corpse into the woods to snack on. As far as peole crashing their cars while watching a turkey...just WOW. "Officer I was on my cell phone talking to my best friend Tammy and all of a sudden I noticed this huge bird. I told Tammy she needs to come see this thing. And before I knew it, that dang tree just jumped right into the road and hit my car!"

That's unbelievably stupid, both about the bear and the turkey. WE are the ones invading THEIR habitat, not vice versa. The bear should have been left alone, and the turkey could have been caught and relocated. Prime example: In my Mom's hometown, a pair of eagles had nested in an electrical tower, causing problems with maintenance. A nesting platform was built a short distance away, and the eagles were moved. Just because turkeys or bears are not protected species doesn't mean you can't deal humanely with them.

Here on the island (Newfoundland, Canada's East Coast) we have quite the number of bears, and they have always been a problem in certain communities. However, the HUMANS here are given advisories on where/when to go out so as to avoid the bears, i.e. never go out walking alone after dark, avoid certain areas after dark, etc. My stepdad got out once to take pictures of a black bear alongside of the road, and as soon as the bear showed annoyance, he got directly back in.

That's just plain pathetic... some people. I swear, i mean come on! ITS A FREAKIN' BEAR!! "Aww its cute and fluffy lets get within five feet of it." Do they not realize this is an animal that is capable of KILLING them.

I love bears and think they are great animals, but you just don't walk up and shake their hands. These are potentially dangerous animals and they need a lot of space and respect. I mean where the heck is their common sense?
