Hi, I was wondering what people use for bedding in there snakes houses. Currently for my Eastern Ribbon snake I am using bark chips from the pet shop on top of paper towel. I was wondering if people use ceramic tiles in the bottom instead of bark like in many Gecko homes that i have seen and am currently in the process of setting up. My plan is to set up half my tank with tile and leave the area with his hide having a bit of bark for him to dig through and burrow in. let me know what you guys think.

Good post

Good post! I plan to move into this stuff after I’m done with school, as most of it is time consuming. It’s a great post to reference back to. My blog needs more time to gain in popularity anyway.

I use aspen bedding on all 6 of my snakes. I feed them all except the garter in seperate enclosures like a shoe box for feeding so they don't ingest any of the bedding. It holds humidity decently well, absorbent, and snakes enjoy to borrow in it and hide.

I use Aspen, some people use bark chips.
I wouldn't use tile as its too slippery and the snake won't be able to move on it very well.

We use bark in the garter tank and aspen in the kingsnake tank

Both are fed in a tub outside of their home
