Isnt there the possibility of trait linkage with bells and blizzards? I know that it is believed that there is for trempers and blizzards.

I wish a scientist would take a few examples of each morph and do genome studies to find out which genes and gene groups code for each visible trait. That would also tell us which genes would most likely show trait linkage. Plus it would show what could be done to improve existing morphs.

I might try bell X blizzard this season. Im not getting my hopes up though... I wonder if it would be a good idea to breed the blizzard to a tremper BB first to make sure she isnt het tremper, since I got her from a guy who had no history on her... That would take up time but I dont want to end up with het bell BB 50% tremper

OK...Just to make sure I get my light to come on you're talking about four geckos when you say...

Bell 66%ph Blizzard x Blizzard 66%ph Bell
Blizzard 66%ph Bell x Bell 66%ph Blizzard

Do you typically put the male first?

So you would really be proving out four geckos?

So if all your 66% turned out to be 100% you would have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a BB. :main_thumbsup:
If your Blizzard was not het for Bell you would get half WT and half visible Blizzard.:main_thumbsdown:
If your Bell was not het for Blizzard you would get half WT and half visible Albino.:main_thumbsdown:

This is one of those breedings where IF your 66% is really a het then you can tell the genotype of the offspring by the phenotype. Bell will be het for Blizzard, Blizzard will be het for Bell and the WT will be het for Bell and het for Blizzard. I think I read about this being called a "clean" pairing. I think it was Steve Sykes site.

It's all coming together...:main_yes:

Good luck with the 66% hets and thanks for helping me see this through!

Keep us/me up to date on the hatchlings... I'm real curious how the numbers work out for you.:main_thumbsup:
