In a attempt to help a egg bound female we have we used a syringe to shrink oversized eggs, we stuck our gecko and sucked out the fluid in said eggs. At first she fought us but after the third stick she calmed down and let us continue with the procedure. We pretty much aborted the possible babies inside her and now she seems to feel a lot better. During the middle of the procedure her eyes flashed with what looked like relief.
This was done because we think that if we didn't do anything that she would die.

We will try to keep this thread updated daily with Belladonna's condition because if this saves her life the info should be shared so other geckos can be saved from egg binding to.

I hope that you are trained to perform this type of procedure?
Others need to take there geckos to the vet and NEVER try this type of thing themselves.

What....

Seriously?

I assume you were only guessing based on how you worded your post. Your gecko needs a qualified reptile vet.
No animal should ever have to endure such a procedure by someone who has no idea what theyre doing. How did you know she was egg bound? Do you have access to your own rads?

Its threads like these that disturb me to the core.

Info to prevent egg binding is already available. Dont breed a gecko who is too small, too young, and make sure shes healthy first...

Bella is 3 years old & was up to weight before we decided to breed her
The eggs that developed were to big to lay
I recently had to replace parts on a vehicle "it ended up breaking down anyway"
That couple with a electric bill that nearly double ate up my vet money
I had to do something

Good news she is already eating again & is back to her sweet self

I have a legit question. Not meant to be backhanded or rude.
Im canadian so our health care system is a little different, but if you had a sick family member in the states and didnt have health coverage, do you operate on them yourself? Do people try to treat their childrens medical problems before they shell out the money?

I have friends who pawned their tv to pay for their puppies parvo bill. IMO there is no excuse to practice operate on your gecko. Youre also just guessing that shes eggbound without a doctors diagnosis.
Im glad shes still alive this morning, but in no way do I hope you go around telling people that doing that is safe or helpful.

I will not be using this gecko in any breeding program any more
I only tried to use her once
I was nearly ready to dig a hole before attempting this
Bella will get a nice display tank once I get it " built "
She is to sweat a lizard to risk again

I assumed she was egg bound cuz she was super bloatEd & bruised on her belly
She look like she had rumors I knew they were eggs

And thanks for not calling me mean & evil
I love my Leopard geckos

I have a special needs cat that is FIV positive and also has Feline Urinary Tract Disease. I owe the vet upwards of $200 from her last urinary flare up. I'm paying them $20 a month.
