Best lights/lamps?

I want to get a gecko soon but I was wondering if anyone could suggest a specific brand of light or lamp that would be best.

Depends on what type of gecko you're getting. Cresties and gargs don't need heat/uv.

I buy my light fixtures at home depot, I just use the big metal garage lights. They work great, and are much cheaper. But I buy red bulbs for my leopard geckos at the local pet store. I don't know the brand, but they're for nocturnal reptiles.

Personally i like the Dimmers that flukers sell because i can change the heating prefernces. When the bulb is almost out i dim it down so its easier to get heat and save the energy. I also use the dimmer to make sure its not a blinding light because thats what happens when you buy a light fixture that dosent have a dimmer. Normally with out dimmers the bulb goes to the max brightness which even hurts my eyes if i look at it. So for the geckos best interest i use Dimmers for day and night! I also use purple UV lights bulbs.

I too buy the fixtures at home depot and assemble and install them myself.
It will depend greatly on the type of gecko you get. You have some big decisions to make!
