what is the best way to clean a used tank for a leopard gecko because I want mine when I get it to have a clean place to live???

I don't like using used cages but I have in the past. This is the method I used.

1. White vinegar and rinse with hot water, hot as you can get it. You will have to wear cleaning gloves to withstand the heat.

2. Chlorhexidine or 10% bleach solution, rinse with hot water.

3. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, you can get this a Wal-Mart. Spray generously and wipe with paper towels. You will not need to rinse, the fumes will evaporate in a couple of minutes.

Good post, I will definitely add ammonia to my used cage cleaning if I ever get one again.

I would place it as #4 on my cleaning list after the isopropyl alcohol evaporates fully.
