better choice of gutloading ? Can a leo decide ?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has done a test on the following

1) gutload your crickets with carrots alone before feeding your leos

2) gutload your crickets with a wide range of different foods, before feeding your leos

Objective is to identify if the leopard gecko is able to decide based on smell and make a prefered choice?

Any feedback is much appreciated.

My crickets get carrots, potatoes, or apples, as well as a grain mix.

I will answer it this way......your gecko will make a choice if he is well fed to start with......If he is real hungry he will hit a beetle,an alien, or an unworthy worn out cricket from only the movement of dropping it in his site range. If he has been getting fed regular and is only being a smelly picker........he will pick a gut loaded fresh pineapple meal worm over other gut loaded items. ......I've only tried the apples to apples comparison method.........But note pineapple will give you a whole bunch of fruit flies.(gnats)....the geckos won't mind them but they drive me crazy........take care.
