Here's a few pics and a video of Nana, my big female albino cranni. She's about 16 months old now, and she's a monster. She wieghs a little over 3/4 lbs.

Oh! What a cutie! Love those feeding pics! She is a albino right? Do you have a pic of her whole setup? Sorry, I like compairing other people pacman's cages to mine. :)

BTW, I'm Bling_my_leo (same user name) from frog freaks. :D

Sorry for butting into your thread, but.... isn't she to small to be eating mice that big? My pac man who is over a year now (I think) is still on pinki mice. The pinki mice are no longer than the space between his eyes. Isn't that how the rule goes? Should I start feeding my pac man big mice like that?

Thanks!

Emma

This pic was taken on 02/02/08.

See how much smaller he is then your pac man. Should I upgrade him to big mice like that?

No, she is deifinitely big enough to handle that rat, and has had bigger before. The "space between the eyes" theory doesn't so much apply as it does to alot of other frogs. If they can fit into their mouth, then they should have no problems.

As far as the tank set up goes, all I keep in them is a water dish and the substrate. Anything else is just for our own viewing pleasure. Some people like to root plants in, but as they grow bigger they will just destroy most plants by uprooting them. So if I were to use plants, I would have them in a pot of somekind to prevent it from happening.

Also, I just want to be very clear about this. Rodents are NOT a requirement and should never be used as a staple in their diets.

That being said, I never use mice, I use rat fuzzies. You can get a rat fuzzy that is bigger than an adult mouse, but poses no threat to the frog because they still have their eyes closed. So they can get a better sized meal without the danger.

She is such an awesome frog. :main_thumbsup:

So (because I am an idiot with frogs, but would love to learn) what, generally is a staple diet for a pac man frog?

Well, I give all of my frogs a pretty big variety. My staples include crickets, roaches, Canadian nightcrawlers, prawn, krill, smelts, cicadas, etc. Then I give them a big meal every other week like a rat fuzzy or another smaller frog.

What a cool frog. I want one of those pretty bad, I just don't know if I would be able to care for it right now.

Thanks for replying back Hydro! So they don't need any lighting or warmth? My room stays at a constant 78 degrees. All I have in Chompers cage is bed-a-beast, corner water dish, fake plant with a bottom built on, and a fake hard plastic type thing branch.

Emma

P.S I love your frogs colors!!

You can use either a light bulb, ceramic heat emitter, or a heating pad. If using a heat pad, I recommend using it on the side or end of the tank, and not under it. Not only can the frog burn themselves on it, but these frogs burrow to escape the heat, and if it is under the tank, it can prevent them from doing what comes natural. I would at least get his temps up to the low 80's to help him with digestion.

Thanks so much! I am going to use a ceramic heater. I already have one of those. :) How long should I keep that on? Like from 7:00 in the morn to 7:00 pm at night?

Thanks again!!

Yeah, that should work. I turn all my stuff on and off with a timer for about the same times.

Thanks Rags, glad to see you here as well.
You bet man. Yeah, I've been here for over a year, but haven't really posted much of anything. Usually do that over at Fat Frogs or The AB. Need to post more period, heh.
