Big Tanks? Yes or No?

Hello, everyone! :D It's been a few days since I've posted but I have been a sneaky lurker since then. :main_laugh:

The tank that my husband and I got is either 40 or 50 gallons. Is this too big? I just want to give adequate space! (And not spoil, no, not at all ;) ). I figure that with this size of an area that our leo will have lots of room to dart and play and be frisky! :D

Is it for one baby leo?, I wouldnt reccomend a tank that big. Adults should be okay in a tank that big if theirs lots of cover and hides. The bigger the cage can also make it harder for the leo to catch its food, more places for the feeders to hide.

I keep a 1.3 in a 40 gallon and have kept 1.4 to 1.5 in a 55 gallon. That may be too large for a single leo but youc an take up space by adding multiple hides, rocks, driftwood etc.

Up until recently I have not used a very large tank but this year I needed to combine some females while waiting on my sterlite tubs
I had an empty 55 gal and I put 4 female of the same size/weight together with multiple hides and they are all doing well
I just keep an eye on them to make sure that they are all growing at the same rate and one isn't getting shorted on food
However with just one baby Leo you may want to partition off the tank to a smaller size while your Leo is still tiny and then if you choose to stay with that tank you can slowly increase the size of the area that your Leo uses

hope this helps

How big is your leo?
40-50 gallon is kind of big for one leo
I think it would fit nicely 2-5 leos.
Leopard geckos do not need to much space.

ReptileMan27 is right it would be hard for the gecko to catch
its food.
