Bio Setups and Homemade Enclosures?

Does anyone do the bio setups? And do you use them in your own made enclosures? I was thinking about using them for my beardie as a tester before trying it with my gecko, but I figured I'd ask some questions first.

1) What kind of access do you have for the tank you use it in? Are they doors or sliding glass?

2) is this even a good idea? I've read a lot about it, and I really think it would be cool to attempt, though I know it will take some time to set up, though it may be easier since I can grow what my dragon will eat (plant wise) in his tank, and I can put different types of feeders in it.

I know I had more but I can't think of them right now...

There are several threads about people doing bioactive setups, so do a forum search. I have one leopard gecko enclosure that's bioactive and a whole lot of setups for other geckos that are as well. I haven't done it for my beardies, not because I don't think it should be done, but because it's easier for me not to.
Sliding glass doors are a problem because the substrate will come out. Your two best choices are:
--front opening tank (my bioactive leos are in a 27 gallon bow front)
--Exoterra or ZooMed front opening enclosures, the kind with the doors 4-6 inches above the bottom of the cage.
There's also a Facebook group about bioactive enclosures.
