i got my young crestie about 2 days ago and im worried. Ive seen him eat etc but at night he doesnt seem that active. He doesnt climb around much is this normal why hes just settling in etc? I was thinking maybe hes a bit worried still and doesnt want to come out into the open. I am currently using a simplistic enclosure set up so im thinking that he might not have enough places to hide etc.

Cresteds can take a while to settle in and are usually shy at first especially when they're young. Give him plenty of fake plants to hide in and maybe some jungle vine to climb on. You can search though this section for other ideas. The best thing is probably just to leave him alone other than for feeding and misting for a while.

oh ok thanks mate. Also, when I put in the CGD how should it look? I'm using the sandfire super foods version it says 2 parts water for 1 part CGD it said it will turn into more of a gel substance but mine is still quite liquidy? Lastly, do I need to change his CGD every day (as in change it every day).

I have that same brand, what I do is i put the powder in a dish and fill the bottle up with water once, and add maybe another teaspoon.
If you put two its stays liquid.
And yes you do need to change it everyday.

And he is just getting used to his surroundings. To tell you the truth I only see my crested at different areas of the tank, never really moving so much.

Probably just a new place and its getting used to it, also what time are you viewing it? Mine dont move an inch during the day but after 9pm you can see them crawling and leaping all over the tank.

there are a lot of people who change the CGD every other day I even know a few who change it every 3ed day. In the wild creasted eat rotting food. As long as you don't get mold or film in the food you should be fine with every other day.

I use the T-Rex CGD, and I've mixed everything from a very watery soup to something that would barely flow. She doesn't seem to care how thick the CGD is.

I feed her about five days a week.

Yep, that's how I do it too. I toss it whenever mold starts growing, usually after about 3 days.
