Bites tail off! OMG *warning graphic pics*
Saturday night my 74g beautiful adult Tremper Albino bit his own tail off. About an hour before I noticed he was getting ready to shed and misted his humid hide down real well. I came back an hour or so later to check up on him and his tail was disconnected. I cant belive he did this, I was very shocked and even more upset. Thats why I havent posted anything in a few days.
The tip of his tail seemed to look like it was not going to shed properly. I can see where the skin on the very tip wasnt ready to come off and like he was bitting at it. This I belive was from alittle scabing from the last shed, same thing tail didnt look like it was quite ready to shed but he pulled the skin off and cause it to be sore and scab over at the very tip.
Iam I not keeping his humid hide damp enough all the time? Should I have put neosporin on tip of his tail when it got a tiny sore and scabbed? It seemed so minor less then 3/8" of the tip had a very small carpet burn like scab. The rest of his shed went fine beside him biting his tail off
Right now I got neosporin on the nub. Giving him some water by dropper and he's ate 1 giant meallie since. Iam just making sure he is staying hydrated, warm and trying to offer him by hand some more mealies. He seems tired after losing his tail.
Anything else I can do for him while he recovers?
